A Look at Rochester
The fact that Rochester is known as "The World's Image Center" is not empty hyperbole. The headquarters of Eastman Kodak is found here, and Xerox started up within its borders. But these economic forays into preserving memories and documents are not the only reason why this city of some 211,000 residents creates an indelible image.
It has certainly left a favorable imprint in the minds of various publications, as the city has received various plaudits for overall livability in various metrics such as raising a family, quality of life, and education. One of the reasons for all of the acclaim that Rochester has received is tied to the relatively inexpensive nature of the city in comparison to the rest of New York State. This is especially evident in the realm of real estate, where the median home price is less expensive than any other city in the state.
While Rochester is near by Lake Ontario, just a sliver of the town actually borders the Great Lake. However, the town is bisected by the Genesee River, which dumps into the massive body of water. The city makes the most of the waterway by surrounding it with several different parks, which are popular recreational destinations throughout the year. The river is also responsible for producing High Falls, a spectacular waterfall that tumbles in the midst of Rochester's downtown.
The city is also known as "The Flower City," and it does its part to live up to its nickname by being home to a special ten day festival known as the Lilac Festival, which is the oldest festival in Rochester and the largest fete of its kind in North America. During this annual May event, visitors can stop and admire close to 400 different varieties of lilacs. The festival is one of a few Rochester festivals that celebrate nature and its bounty, like Greentopia and the Rose Festival at Maplewood Park.
A Look at Rochester's Home Care
Home care, which is alternately known as home health care or in-home care, is the term that is utilized to describe care administered to a golden ager by a highly qualified caregiver within the confines of a senior's own home. The responsibilities of the caregiver are twofold in nature. Firstly, they are charged with administering various activities for daily living, also known as ADLs. Some of these important tasks include helping a senior bathe, getting a senior dressed, or helping a senior eat. Secondly, they are tasked with helping the senior take care of basic activities that are crucial for keeping home life in proper order. These activities include things like picking up groceries, preparing medication, and cooking dinner. And while the golden agers that have home care obviously receive a substantial measure of aid, the fact that the assistance that they receive happens within their own home provides them with a sense of freedom that they may not be able to experience as readily in a traditional senior living facility.
Rochester Living
The home care services in Rochester are so vital because they allow seniors to experience the aid that they need to get through each day without having to give up the security or familiarity of their own domicile. At the same time, the services provide a level of ease for the families, as they can take comfort in knowing that the senior in their lives will be taken care of in a manner that is dignified and caring.
