According to Statistics Canada, people are living longer than they ever have before. While that is obviously great news, such data also means that there may be a rise in senior-aged people that need to partake in some form of home care for various chronic conditions, from long-term ailments to terminal illnesses. This bump will go hand in hand with the number of families that have to make a decision in regards to some sort of daily aid for their senior-aged loved one. As those that has gone through the process before may tell you, this is not an easy decision to make. And while it may be linked by an instinctive desire to try and do things individually, the reality is that doing so could end up doing much more harm than good. Yet there is a silver lining to all this; there is a wide range of home care options that are found within Toronto, Ontario, and they are fully capable of lowering this burden through their services.
Toronto at a Glance
There are several examples that Toronto can give as to why they could be considered the face of Canada. Perhaps the biggest reason is due to its sheer size. It is home to some 2.6 million residents, making it the fourth most populous city in North America. Only Mexico City, New York City, and Los Angeles are larger. The city is also considered to be a critical global hub for finance, business, and culture.
To be sure, it’s one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, for reasons that partially tie into its population matrix. It is estimated that about 50% of the city's residents were born outside of Canada. What's more, the city is home to over 200 ethnic origins amongst its populace. This level of diversity, when combined to its 140 uniquely independent neighborhoods, provides Toronto with the kind of international flair that a lot of major cities in the continent can't compare to.
One of the chief reasons why Toronto has been able to bring in so many people within its borders is due to its solid economic landscape. The economy of the city is chiefly steered by finance and banking, which are both huge enough to make Toronto a worldly vital city. The economy if further fortified by the city's successful ventures into such industries like information technology, publishing, telecommunication, and film production. The latter industry has especially grown in prevalence, to the point where the city begun sharing the nickname "Hollywood North" with fellow Canadian metropolis Vancouver. The diverse economy, and the stabilization that organically stems from it, enables Toronto to anchor a section of southern Ontario called the Golden Horseshoe. This is an extremely vital region of the country, as about 8.7 million people live within the region, which constitutes about 26% of Canada's population.
Toronto's weather can also be looked at as an appealing reason to live within its borders. While the city does experience four distinct seasons, it should be noted that the city’s urban landscape and density combine to keep evening temperatures a little warmer when compared to other parts of the region. The city's presence on Lake Ontario also plays a factor into temperature regulation, as the body of water provides a cooling effect of sorts to Toronto because of breezes that might come off the lake.
