About Active Caregiving, Inc. - Guelph, ON
Welcome
2 yrs ago Active Caregiving was incorporated. The owners spent 10+ years performing hands on care at a Day Program for people with Dementia, making this the natural next step for them. Active Caregiving In-home care and recreation is based on the Day Program model (to incorporate all 5 domains of care; Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Social and Spiritual) into each service.
What we offer
Active Caregiving provides personal care, recreation, housekeeping, outings, errands and meal assistance. Through these services we aim to: promote independence, prevent isolation, reduce stress and anxiety, increase motivation and build meaningful moments. Our point of difference is incorporating customised activity and leisure time into each service that helps an individual find enjoyment and meaning in their days. We stand by our motto Quality Care and Quality Time and that’s what we really want to provide for people that might have some health and wellness challenges.
Locations
We service Waterloo Region and Wellington County, this includes Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, Guelph and surrounding areas.
Our team
Each of our staff have dedicated their education and professional experience to serving older adults. Each team member has backed up their passion with a degree in a health care related field, eg. PSW, PRN, Recreation Therapy etc and has completed the Core Caregiving Certificate. We have a minimum standard of 7+ years experience each, with most being 10+ years of working in the field. We pride ourselves on our positive and gentle approach to caring for people with Dementia that has been honed by years of experience. We have experience working with people of all physical and cognitive abilities and can naturally adapt to changes as they arise. Our backgrounds include Retirement homes, Long Term Care, Day Programs and community settings.
Building our reputation
Our biggest awards are the feedback we receive from Clients and Caregivers receiving our care. With testimonials like, "you really, genuinely, authentically care about your clients - both the cared for and the caregivers. That changes everything about the experience" (Caregivier J.S, June 2018), our work is meaningful and helpful and that is our biggest reward.
We are members of the Chamber of Commerce. We are incorporated and insured. We partner with local businesses such as Belbeck Family Farm (to incorporate pet Therapy) and Bees Inspired to offer activity/fidget blankets and get great use out of other local resources such as the Guelph Small Business Centre and Senior Community Centres.
Our service is based on making and building real connections with people and that extends to community resources and affiliations.
Choosing a small service provider
As a small local business we are at an advantage for our local knowledge and ability to change and adapt as needed. We are not bound to a corporate framework. This gives us a familial feel which makes building trust and a personal bond that much easier. We enjoy the flexibility of offering outings, appointments, pet therapy etc that other agencies may not be allowed to. Our local knowledge has benefited all of our clients as we build networks of support and make use of them regularly, eg, in home foot care, hair care etc.
